St. George's is the capital of Grenada, wrapped around the Carenage horseshoe harbor with Maurice Bishop International Airport (GND) to the south. It is a cruise port and the island's spice-trade hub.
Founded by the French in 1650 and later British, the town's tiered red-roofed houses climb the hills around its harbor. It was central to Grenada's 1979 revolution and the 1983 events that followed.
