Osa Peninsula gateway to Corcovado rainforest
A small town on the Osa Peninsula beside the Golfo Dulce, with an airstrip and a harbor used by fishing and tour boats. It is the main gateway to Corcovado National Park. Scarlet macaws are often seen around town.
The town grew during a gold-prospecting era in the surrounding forests and later became a base for eco-tourism after Corcovado National Park was established in 1975.
