A small, hilly Colombian island in the western Caribbean north of San Andres. It has a short airstrip served by light aircraft and a harbor for boats, and is far quieter than its larger neighbour.
Like San Andres, Providencia was settled by English Puritans in the 17th century and has a Raizal Creole culture. The island was badly damaged by Hurricane Iota in 2020 and has since been rebuilt.
