Population 50, descended from the Bounty mutineers
Britain's last remaining Pacific territory, population around 50 — nearly all descended from the 1789 Mutiny on the Bounty, on an island so remote it takes a multi-day boat journey just to get within reach.
In 1789, mutineers from HMS Bounty, along with Tahitian companions, settled on Pitcairn to hide from the Royal Navy — they weren't discovered for almost twenty years. Their descendants still make up most of the population today. Pitcairn became a British colony in 1838, the first British territory to give women the vote.
