Gateway to Kruger
Nelspruit, officially Mbombela, is served by Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport. It is the main access city for the southern Kruger National Park.
The town grew from an 1890s railway settlement serving the eastern Transvaal lowveld. It became the capital of Mpumalanga province and a gateway to Kruger's wildlife reserves.
