Reef-fringed town on New Georgia island
Munda is a coastal town on New Georgia in the Solomon Islands, served by Munda Airport and a small harbor. It gives access to extensive reefs, wartime relics and the surrounding lagoon.
Munda's airfield was built by Japanese forces and captured by US troops after heavy fighting in 1943. The upgraded runway now handles the region's air traffic.
