Manta is a Pacific port city in Ecuador's Manabí province with a large seaport and cruise terminal, plus Eloy Alfaro International Airport. It is a major center of the country's tuna industry.
The area was a trading and seafaring center for the pre-Columbian Manteño culture. It grew into a modern fishing and shipping port over the 20th century.
