Deep-harbor capital of Menorca
Mahón (Maó) is the capital of the Balearic island of Menorca, served by Menorca Airport and set along one of the Mediterranean's largest natural harbors. Its port is lined with Georgian-influenced architecture.
Menorca was under British rule for much of the 18th century, and Mahón still shows British influence in its buildings and gin distilling. The mayonnaise sauce is traditionally said to be named after the town.
