Levuka is a small port town on Ovalau island, reached via Bureta Airport and a working harbor. Its low colonial-era main street along the shore is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Levuka was Fiji's first colonial capital and the place where Fiji was ceded to Britain in 1874, before the capital moved to Suva in 1882. Much of its 19th-century townscape survives largely intact.
