Small capital of Tanna beneath an active volcano
The tiny administrative town of Tanna Island in southern Vanuatu, a short drive from the accessible active volcano Mount Yasur. It has a nearby airport at Lenakel and a small coastal harbour.
Tanna is home to enduring custom (kastom) villages and the John Frum cargo movement that grew during the twentieth century. Isangel developed as the island's colonial-era administrative seat.
