Dibrugarh is a city in eastern Assam on the Brahmaputra, served by Dibrugarh Airport at Mohanbari. It is a centre of Assam's tea industry and a river-crossing point.
The area was part of the Ahom kingdom that ruled Assam for centuries. It became a major tea-growing and trading hub after commercial plantations expanded in the 19th century.
