Elbe river port gateway to Bohemian Switzerland
Děčín is a river port on the Elbe in northern Bohemia, near the German border where the river cuts through sandstone hills. It is a gateway to the Bohemian Switzerland national park.
A castle has overlooked the Elbe crossing here since the Middle Ages. The town grew as a river-shipping and railway junction between Prague and Dresden.
