Cruz Bay is the main town of St. John in the US Virgin Islands, reached by ferry from St. Thomas. Its harbor is the island's arrival point beside the national park.
St. John was a Danish sugar colony marked by a major enslaved-people's revolt in 1733. The US bought the Virgin Islands from Denmark in 1917, and much of St. John later became a national park.
