A small Yolŋu homeland on the coast of north-east Arnhem Land, on the shore of Port Bradshaw south of Nhulunbuy. The Burarrwanga family welcomes small groups to their country for immersive, family-led cultural experiences — fishing, weaving, gathering bush foods and learning Yolŋu ways of knowing.
Bawaka is the ancestral country of the Datiwuy clan and their Yolŋu family, who care for it under enduring law and kinship. Rather than outside operators, the traditional owners themselves host visitors, keeping control of how their culture is shared.
