Axim is a coastal town in southwestern Ghana with a fishing harbor and long palm-fringed beaches. Fort San Antonio overlooks the shore from a rocky rise.
The Portuguese built Fort San Antonio here in the early 16th century, one of the oldest forts on the coast. It later passed to the Dutch and is now a heritage site.
